Saffron 1g by Antonio Sotos
It takes an immense amount of painstaking manual labor to produce saffron. How much? Over 3,000 saffron crocus flowers are hand-picked for just one ounce. So yeah, it's expensive. That's why it's acquired the moniker, "red gold". Luckily, a little goes a long way.
These are one gram jars of saffron threads, imported from Spain. Guaranteed 100% saffron according to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines. During the monda or esbrinar portion of harvesting the stigma of the flower, a deep red thread, is removed, toasted, and dried to conserve the saffron's distinct aroma and flavor.
Antonio Sotos, S.L. was established in 1912 and follows strict guidelines for quality with IFS (International Food Standard), BRC (British Retail Consortium) and ISO 9001:2000 certification for handling, packing, and commercialization of saffron.
